Hey all, I'm trying to record with either of these programs and am unsuccessful so far!

Audacity, I'm completely unsuccessful. Don't know what to do there. Except press the r-key for record...lol!

I'm getting a bit further with Wavepad, but everytime I try it, my volume gets really messed up. It's a bad thing when using a screen reader if the volume gets messed up.

Any tips and tricks? Another program perhaps?

Thank you

with audasity, either 1.2 or the beta 1.3 version... r will record, space will stop recording, space will also playback from the beginning wen stopped, be sure to check the audio device section in the preferences to be sure your recording and playback devices are set correctly. Also, when you are done, save as will not give you an audio file. Save as is for the audasity project file so you can reopen a session you were previously working on. When you want an audio file of what you've done, go to the file menu and choose export file as mp3, ogg, or wave. It will ask you to set some parameters, bit rate, etc, then, just name your file and hit save in the dialogue box. Then you will have to wait for a few seconds to a few minutes for it to convert the file, depending on the file length. Hope that helps. As far as other programs, you could use goldwave, which does have jfw scripts, total recorder, I happen to use sonar, adobe audition, and sound forge. However, those are pro recording aps, aren't cheap, and are probably overkill for what you need.

Wooh-Hooh, I did it! I was successful with Audacity. The thing I was doing wrong there, was having the new recording play while recording, that was a big mistake...lol!

I'll have to play around with wavepad, but the volume control getting messed up freaks me out! I don't know how to fix that by myself, because of course, I can't hear window-eyes.

Thanks all, I'm tickled!
